Kaarina Gould has been appointed Executive Director of the Finnish Cultural Institute in New York from the beginning of September 2016.

“I look forward to employing and expanding my professional experience in New York. It is a city that presents Finnish contemporary art, design and architecture with almost infinite opportunities for dialogue and collaboration. The Institute has great existing platforms, like its residency program, that hosts many forward-thinking professionals every year. I am very excited about seeking out and experimenting with new ways of sharing skills and ideas that could benefit the creative industries in both Finland and the US,” Gould says.

A widely experienced professional in the field of arts and culture, Kaarina Gould is currently Development Director at Live Nation Finland, the biggest live events producer in the country. She came to Live Nation from a stint as Program Director for World Design Capital Helsinki 2012. Before that she was Program Manager for the Helsinki Festival and the director of Cirko – the Center for New Circus. She brings to FCINY a rich network of creative people and energies that spans the performing arts and a vast range of visual arts, design and urban culture.

The Finnish Cultural Institute in New York operates in the fields of contemporary art, design and architecture, creating dialogue between Finnish and American professionals and audiences. This happens through residencies and other mobility programs, but also by organizing and producing exhibitions, publications and events, and communicating about the progressive contents of the visual arts.
